Peace On Earth.

September '06 in Ireland. The Ryder Cup ( Golf tournament ) is taking place a couple of miles away at the K-Club. The local traffic is disrupted and the Gardai (Irish Police) are everywhere as are 40,000 golf fans. Some 600 helicopter flights are ferrying the VIPs about this sleepy county. The papers are full of who's going to be there ; Bush (Snr.), Clinton, Carter, Gates et al. You would think these movers & shakers would be more concerned with the ever mounting emergency that the world faces rather than watching golf in the pouring rain with a 50 MPH wind.

It may be just me, but surely most now are aware that the people of the world are sleep-walking into World War III. The mighty armies of the West are rampaging across Asia causing nothing but grief. It is only a matter of time before all the great powers are involved. I don't remember being asked if this was okay with me. If the wholesale slaughter of innocents for cheap oil or the impossible goal of imposing democracy at gun point... nobody asked me.

So, as the rich and powerful politicians chopper their way to the Ryder Cup, they might have to avert their gaze from my little farm next door. If they dare to look, they might see me shaking my head in silent rage at their stupidity and arrogance.
